Hello, how are you, I've bought the following products some time ago: Vallejo Decal Softer and Fixer and I don't know how to use them. I searched online and I found some videos but I don't quite get it.

The Softener replaces the warm water? Or has another function, and the Decal Fix in a video it is applied before transferring the decal on the model and after.

And another question is that if you have to apply a mate varnish coat on the surface of the model, or you can skip it, and after the decal has dried do you guys varnish the decal for extra protection, or you live it as it is.

Thanx for the answers and wish you all a happy Sunday.

Decal Fix is essentially a glue, to make the decal adhere better to the model. Decal Softener is to make the decal conform to curves and details better.

Soak the decal off the paper as normal; while it's doing that, brush some Fix in the area where it is to go, and when the decal comes off the paper, apply it to the model as normal. After you've pressed it down and are sure it's in the correct position, carefully brush Softener over it. Let it dry, and the decal should fit to the surface better. (For very detailed or uneven surfaces, you can press it down with a cloth before the Softener dries, but very carefully so you don't move the decal, and if necessary, apply more Softener.)

Or at least, that's how I use Micro Set and Sol, which serve the same purpose.

Thank you for your answer, I did good to ask, because I thought that the softener replaces the worm water, but it doesn't.

Never tried out this products before, just bought them to see what they do, I will post the final result after using them, but I won't use the softener because the surface were the decal goes in the cockpit has no relief on the controls and the screens.
