While I'm waiting for my F-4C Phantom to arrive, I decided to take a stab at creating a Rat Rod.
This kit is a 1951 Chevy Convertible Sun Crusier from amt. There isn't too much flash.
I usually don't build cars/trucks, but it was in my stash.

How did you do that patina look? That is absolutely stunning!
Hey, Mike. After I primed it black I used Vallejo rust colors with a sponge, I then added a chipping fluid. I decided to replace the mint green with duck egg blue then chipped most of it off. The interior will be nice and clean.

Love the paint
Exactly what I was going to say it looks very authentic.
Thank you. I think I might be able to pull this off, except lowering the body to the ground, like a true Ratrod along with the huge hotrod engine.
Maybe that will be my next attempt at a Ratrod with the 1950 Chevy truck... later down the line.

Thanks, again

In between coats how long are you leaving it? 2 hours until properly touch dry? or longer? JJ
After the black base I waited to dry-to-touch then added the vallejo rust. The next day I added a fairly heavy coat of chipping fluid. The next day I sprayed just one coat of blue and waited a few hours to remove the paint and, voilà. ;)

The vallego rust really makes it look properly authentic. Never painted a rust effect before. I'll be coming to you for tips when I do :)
