Hi folks.

For Im a modeller who doesnt think in only one category, I love to scratch sometimes my own stuff. Pretty much inspired by movies like Oblivion, Star Wars and of course Kow Yokoyamas models (Maschinenkrieger), here comes my newest project:

PROJECT: AVENGER

The main components will consist of 1/32 P-38 parts. Thanks Trumpeter and thanks Yokoyama-san for that (the Falke consists of the both mainframes and some other interesting parts, for example...).

Regarding the Avenger, its the lower side of the cockpit, a front of one of the engines and a half drop tank, slightly cut at the end.

Nuff said! Here are the first pics of the Avenger:

Cheerio...

Lucas.

Interesting... can't wait to see the evolution.

Interesting. Gonna keep an eye here. Tig are you free styling? You know, making it up as you go along. Because that's when genius happens.

Correct, just like that. Genius... hmm. I dont think Im very good at it, thats pretty new for me. ;)

I mean theres a basic concept, yes. For example I wanted to use the Apollo exhaust from the start. But when I tried to fit some P-38 parts I recognized that the drop tank half gives a good "drop" shape with the upper side.

No pictures yet, but I managed to glue a part of the turbocharger on the drop tank and put some green stuff/Mr. Surfacer on it. Guess what plane was the donator. ;)

And... theres tons of MrSurface on the insides of the rear hull now. Thats neccessary because the Dremel caused a pretty rough surface here and there...

thx arohk. :)

Little update here... Some boxes near the exhaust were installed, the drone got "teeth" - not done yet of course - and some Me 262 spare parts:

The base... As always its a must have for my models and as well as the drone itself its mostly made from leftovers. Those are the following:

-Soviet soldier figure, 1/35. If I remember that right, it should be from ICM.
-leftovers of resine cobblestones, patched together.
-MiniArt street accessories - fence and sewer.

The wall is made from Styrodur, a segment of a wooden circle, plastic sheet and... Chinchilla sand! :D

Loads of hairspray was used here for the plastering, it was fixed with haispray. The brown pigments got the same treatment, as usual.

The base itself has a very interesting pattern fromthe start. I brushed some dark brown ink over it (Rohrers Antiktusche)*, and fixed it with an acrylic gloss coat from a rattle can. The eagle was formerly a white metal NS-insignia. Strictly forbidden here in Germany of course because of its delicate detail. This was removed ages ago by myself and so this eagle sign just waited for its "reanimation" - this was the perfect occasion. I scratched a Soviet star made from plastic sheet, painted and placed it - voilá!

The cyrillic letters mean "basche sdorowje!" - "Cheers!" ;)

Work done:

[1] base painted
[2] figure repainted
[3] ICM Maxim MG painted & placed

The base

...got a treatment of several shades of grey, mixed with dark brown ink - no airbrush was injured here. ;) I tried something new: artificial lighting. Thats why the cobblestones, the wall and - slightly - the figure "glow" a bit yellowish. Thanks Frank, its all your fault...

The figure:

Although already painted before I even started the base, I thought it would be time for a repaint. Again, I tried something new: Ialways struggle to find the right skin tones when I paint my figures. The soldier here had too much booze, and thats why some red was added to the basic skin tone (Testors "Earth"). Im still learning.

The Maxim MG

...is a model that needs some special mentioning: Just published by ICM in their brand new WWI series, this is a little piece of art. Literally EVERYTHING is sculpted, I tend to call this perfect. I was kind of bored cause there was absolutely nothing to scratch here.

;)

CC welcome!

Thanks for watching...

What, who, me?
:)
I'm innocent.

Looks great one can see the light fading down towards the bottom.
Maybe a bit more shadows on the ground towards the left, to make it a bit darker, but other than that:
NICE
Cheers
Klaus

The "inside" of the ruin was created by using Busch printed cardboard for the floor, a MiniArt Soviet ammo box (Set No. 35073), earth pigment and hairspray and a reworked Stalin figure from ICM. I highly recommend those Soviet ammo boxes btw.

Painting is done... Finally!

Tamiyas TS-30 "Silver Leaf" is perfect for this paint job. But the decals were another story. Initially, I wanted to use ICMs Spitfire MK.IX decals - but they were waaay too overlaid and broke into tiny pieces when you just had a look at them. The alternative was creating decals by my own. I looked in my stash and found some "Val" hinomarus from the Hasegawa/Revell kit. I took one of the ICM Soviet stars as a pattern, made the stars bigger - voilá.

Im not sure if I shall paint white borders around them - opinions anyone?

The other decals came from the Maschinenkrieger "Großer Hund" decal sheet ("2") and a Hasegawa P-47D "Thunderbolt" kit. The plane was called "Eileen", but dont ask me for the pilot and the Sqn. please.

;)

Again, the wasp decal tended to break in pieces, and it did - but it was reaparable. Man, almost ALL decals tend to break today, somehow. But Im through so far, and thats all that counts.

WIP of the decaling:

and the result:

That was a fun project from the start! Many parts have been recycled to a conclusive (?) little scene. Hope you like it.
