Hi folks … I'm working on a US tank that saw service in Africa, but I'm having trouble finding the right color mix to represent the faded and weathered paint you'd get from the desert. I'd like to get the faded color prior to weathering. I'm using Vallejo Model Air colors for this one. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What are you using as a reference for this faded olive drab ?
what have you already done in attempting to match this color ?
They do make these various paint sets for color modulation :

You can purchase one of the sets or just the individual paints listed that you feel will be most applicable to your need .
Wow! I've got heartburn looking at all everything for sale. Wish we had a shop like this. Guess I'll have to do some investigation on what import taxes will be.

Thanks for the links, I actually bought that Vallejo set, I just haven't figured out how to best use the colors.
I haven't found too many good refence photos for this, most of the color photos I've found are of modern tanks painted desert colors. I think I'm just going to wing it.
So far on this one I've primed it with Vallejo Parched Grass, and that seems like a good starting point.IMG_4060 (1).jpg

I don't think I hit reply in my last post to this … maybe I did, I'm still trying to remember how this all works.

You will find that the Vallejo Olive Drab set and those of other colours come with a very useful guide to help you. They also offer loads of guide/help/Step by Step downloadable PDF sheets on many of their products that offer modellers advice and best of all they are free.
