Started this model today. an AMT '41 Plymouth, nice fitment on the parts but the plastic is abit thin in some areas to make sanding a problem if its required.
I got about as far as I want to go right now with it because the idea I had for it changed about halfway through and I had to order a diorama accessory kit and I am going to wait for it to arrive.

With the bench here was the worst of the gaps. A little putty and some sanding it'll be good

Very cool basis for a project! What year was that released? That model has been around in one form or another for a long time…not sure how long but

What are the ultimate plans ?

I don't remember what year it was released, a friend of mine gave it to me about 5 or 6 years ago when his hands started to shake to bad for model building and had to give it up, and it was in his stash for a long while.

As for the plans, it is going into a garage diorama with it under going restoration, so it will have a mix of new looking and old parts and panels.

Very cool!! Can't wait to see what colors you chose. I know the color chart for that year. They had some nice ones

For the color it's actually going to be multi colored, as if some one has taken several cars to make one, but for the "restored bits" I am actually thinking about Boysen Berry color, but I am not sure. I still need to check the factory colors for the plymouth.

Aviator Blue was a lighter metallic color (in the daylight it was like a silver-blue ) , and then Eddins Blue (a dark metallic blue) was also available in 41.

Ok an update, I got some paint and details laid down. I wanted to get these up yesterday but I got too busy.

On this the metallic blue didn't lay right and I wound up with this, but I'm good with that.

I still need to do some blending with the enamel stain I put on, feather it in better. Then I'm going to put a light (very light) dust color over the whole thing. After that I get to work on the garage diorama.

Here are the garage accessories for the diorama.

And here is the start of the engine hoist for the garage. I have to scratch build it, I couldn't find one anywhere.
