Engineer, hardly, but not an artist! But after a few decades, I am still trying! Lol.

Got the gun built. There's been a few PE parts with no minor frustration there.

It comes down to decision time. Should I paint only the interior that can be seen? Or go balls to the wall and paint the unseen parts.

Still, part placement has been an issue with this kit. But flipping forward or backward in the drafted (no pictures) illustrations in the instruction manual has brought some clarification. I would humbly suggest that AFV Club hire a serious technical illustrator and writer. Or increase their budget for those existing guys. They can do it, simple CAD, but if the top says cut it back, it's costing more in sales in the long run. They could possibly go full mainstream with super detailed kits.

Good ones are worth their weight in gold. Nothing against mechanical engineers and industrial designers, but asking the guy that knows it inside out to explain, always leaves out what he thinks is obvious!

Yes, engineers typically assume way too much. Ask me how I know. LOL.

Exact same kit... This guy makes this kit look like a Tamiya build. Or he holds back from the honesty of it all. He has some serious skills, and just glosses over the instructions being gloriously beautiful but lacking in what actually matters Parts placement. And his video editing qualities... his swear words were cut out completely. It was like: "It was a glorious day in the sunshine and everything fit perfect except the hull top"!

With all due respect, I love his video and have watched it a few times. He skips the hard points and focuses on the end game. I can appreciate that.



I had some of the same issues, but I used different hull sides than he does in the video. Because the other hull sides fit better in my particular kit.

On a side note: There are so many extra parts in this kit! I mean, there are a lot. Maybe a sci-fi scratch build or bastard kit build in the works. LOL.

My music is much better, In my humble opinion and probably yours...

He is going for ersatz WWII music. It isn't bad. Not bad at all. It's better than most. Overall it is a good video.

But @BarleyBop , not everyone would appreciate Jesse Cook or Patrick O'Hearn. Or your own original renditions.

So, with about 85% of the build done, I have reached Burnout. I am easily distracted from painful things into joyful things. Time for a breather with parts that don't need tweezers for this old man. Quality of joy perceived as opposed to just finishing the damn thing. Postponing it now while I still care.

Finding the eject lever, I pull it. The canopy blows off and I am shot out and into a freefall to put this kit back into the stash for a later finish. I watch the plane that I bailed from and watch it nose down and end in a fireball on a plastic injection factory. Go figure.

Eyeballing a 1/16th scale Tiger 1 in my stash. It's calling my name. Fiddley itty bitty parts got me down and it's time to switch gears for awhile into warp factor 7 - large scale amusement.

So it's another Deutsche WWII kit, but with more breathing room.

Back into the stash the 1/35th 8 Rad goes. AFV Club's kit is incredible with detail, but it's kicked my ass into finding another kit to maintain the joy of building.



Not quitting, just postponing the finish.

Funny, I smell a breeze coming in off the Tunisian coast!

What you smell is the nefarious smell if fire-cracker powder as they are being carefully placed inside a Sd.Kfz. 233 8 Rad model's interior. LOL

Just joshin' ya.

I don't know if DAK will be my Tiger 1's attire. I am thinking maybe going out of the box this time for an Eastern Front look. Maybe panzer grey with a whitewash in-field camo as the snow came down. It's minus 4 degrees F today at home... So, I am thinking while cold. F is for Fahrenheit, not the other F word but it could apply.

I don't know yet, but most of my kits end up sandy.

The whitewash is really cool looking. I built this old 1/35 Tamiya Tiger over 30 years ago and was about to toss it. I experimented with hairspray and white craft paint and was happy with the results.

The effect is pretty convincing. Almost as white as my car with a winter's worth of salt on it!
Bet you're glad you didn't toss it!
