Loving this build diary, @banistersmind ! I've actually gotten a couple f the LightMyBricks lighting kits and really like them. Did the 12-key board connectors come with the LMB light kit or did you use them from your own stock? Can't wait to see the next installments here! I love this kit!
Propellers... in OUTER SPACE?!? Just kidding, those look great and jibe with the source you are using, they actually DO look like propellers!! Looking great, and loving this thread!
WOW! So beautiful and the drive for accuracy is great to see! Wondering how you cut the new vents into the skin of the aircraft. The cuts are so precise. I MUST know what tool you're using! Loving this build diary!
Welcome back into modeling! This is a great forum with a lot of people who are very supportive so it's a good, safe place to post as you've already noticed! Can't wait to see what you do with your Tamiya paint and Revell P-40!
Lookin' GREAT, NavyJoe18! Love the color scheme and liking the base too! Keep up the awesome work and I'm looking forward to seeing your new stuff as you build it!
Great start there @Peter54! A good diorama starts with a good plan which you’ve got here. But I’m curious what will be contained therein… Can’t wait to see the WIPs start popping up over on the other side of the forum! Cheers!
Nice work there @ulvdemon. Kudos on handling the horrible seam down the body of the ship. That’s some ugliness! But you can hardly see it on your build. Well done!
Dude-man-girl, this is looking really nice. I suffer from a terminal lack of vision when it comes to scratch-building so this is top-notch stuff to me. The droid slot and the upper detail pallet look just right when you put the primer on. Very nice. I’m kind of in agreement with @iandrewmartin...
The best clear coat to use when applying decals is a GLOSS clear coat. That ensures the decals have a nice smooth surface to grab onto without trapping air bubbles underneath. The air bubbles cause silvering of the decals which makes them look less ‘real’ and out of scale.
Then after the...
I like the stainless steel agitator so much that I bought a bunch of the Army Painter (?) ball bearings to add to my Vallejo paints to help distribute the pigment in the paints. I like the Vallejo Model Air paints a lot, although I find their grays - shall we say - a little finicky…
Hey, guys, very informative set of posts here. Thanks so much for clarifying some of the challenges with different AB paints. On a somewhat unrelated topic, what are the benefits of the various diameter AB needles? I usually use a .5mm but just bought another AB that has .2, .3 and .5 needles...
I’d love to check the videos out, but I must be looking in the wrong place because I don’t see a YouTube account.
I’ve been getting more into these minis but I’m delaying finishing things until I can carve out time to hand paint them. Truth be told, when I was a wee chap I only ever used hand...
Looking good, BeebleBrox. Instead of stripping the paint, couldn’t you just dry brush a lighter color over the dark to bring up the brightness. I’d totally do that before stripping and starting again. But, I’m also lazy. LOL!
Nice work on that little figure! Is that one of the Legion kits? Those are really fun. I never thought I would get into them, but have amassed a good number of them. What re you using for your pin wash? It flows really nicely.
