I just got back into modeling after many years but I have never tried to build with accuracy and detail...I was just a 12 year old kid back then! Now I want to build some highly detailed kits! I spent a lot of time gathering tools, and supplies and now I am slowly working on small parts...
True...I am more interested in the easy clean-up! I am super short on free time so I'd rather be painting and building than cleaning up the airbrush when ever I have some spare time! Like you said, it probably breaks even but even though I am on a tight budget, time is more valuable!
There is...
OK, I am posting this up in favor of Tamiya paints! I was about to order up some Krylon but I keep hearing horror stories about it (mixed with several high praises) but in the end, I want to stick with my original choice and use Tamiya. I just ordered up a bunch of spray cans to get...
I will be doing a 'practice' AMT Mach 1 before I start the highly revered Revell Boss 351 (converted to a Mach 1) so at least I can get comfortable painting and seeing how it goes on before I start the 2nd kit! I am going to try the floor finish for clear coat...I like the idea of brushing it...
I keep second guessing myself! I have read some reviews that say Krylon isn't good for models because it goes on too hot. I just priced everything I need in Tamiya vs Krylon and it is over $60 more for the Tamiya and a lot less product! I'm not on a super low budget or anything, bu who...
I have my paint scheme all figured out and it looks like I'll be using some Krylon Fusion, that I got a great deal on through work, for the main body, frame and interior tub. It is supposed to be a primer paint with excellent adhesion to multi surfaces including plastic models. I assume the...
I had the crazy idea to build some mini replicas of past vehicles that I have owned but I got to searching and it appears that there is not a very huge selection of available kits out there! Where are you guys finding your kits?
Here are a few that I would buy...if I could find them:
1977...
I picked up an airbrush kit from Harbor Freight to get started on! The whole kit was $99. There was a kit for $89 but it had a siphon style airbrush. I wanted to learn on the gravity feed brush that was included with the $99 kit.
I've built several real engines (on a stand, in the garage) but these little engine do look challenging! I really want to attempt to add small detail like plug wires but I am not sure my big, shaky fingers can do it!
I'm still shopping around and trying different options but so far, I really like the Tamiya paints and thinner for airbrush. I did get some Vallejo acrylic but it seems a little hard to get the mix right but I do like how it goes on with a brush! That may be my combo right there...Tamiya for...
I think I figured out how to get the proper pin stripe around the blackout design on the Mach 1...I need to find a Mach 1 pin stripe decal in 1/25 scale, lay it down on the hood after the yellow paint base and then just fill in the inside with black! Simple (or so it seems anyway! LOL) My new...
Hey guys, does anyone have an extra 1971 Mach 1 hood pin stripe decal in black laying around? I could use it to convert my Boss model to a Mach 1! I need the one that has a rounded taper in the front...not the square one. Below is a drawing I found online...it's close but not exact!!
