A wee bit more progress. Did the tone down with a thin warm gray then went back in with some thinned black for the carbon scoring. THEN I sloshed on a bunch of Future for a clear coat while I trimmed the fibers. The clear coat acts as a sealant for any gaps left around the fibers. Once the clear coat was dry a ton of extra paneling decals from my stash were added, some of them more line-based art, some small squares and rectangles of various shades of warm gray. The overall effect is subtle but mimics the studio model pretty decently. I’ll still go back in and add paneling with a pencil though. Next up will be some detail painting and controlled washes followed by a flat coat, penciling and extra weathering, then a final flat coat.
