Very nice work on the office, a shame to cover it up.

Yep. I know. I was all excited to do the flight deck as it was my first time working with PE. It was kind of disappointing when I did a test fit with the fusealge halves and the windscreen in place...

On the plus side, I learnt some new skills, and I reached a new personal plateau of patience. :)

Still chipping away at it - this build is now competing for my modelling time along with the SMA Nerd Herd GBs'. I'm trying to move each build ahead a little everytime I sit down to model. Working on the cargo deck floor, soon I'll start on the exterior details.

BTW - I had a question for you Ialarmu; where did you get those cool prop blurs that I've seen on your builds? Not sure I'll use one here, but I do have a He 219 I would like to use them on...

Thanks for looking and the comments.

Sorry no. I've been working on my Modern Warfare GB Wyvern and just started into the Mecha GB. And to top it off lots of work and family stuff. I hope to get back to it this week. :)

Well, from what I just seen, this is going to look Sweet!

The cockpit is to die for!

The new floor is pretty cool to!

Hope you can keep working at this soon! Looks very promising!

Norm, out!

Thanks guys, I'm trying to get back to it. The ole scribe-werks on the nacells is kicking me square in the tuckus...

Same answer from me. Don't force yoursel, there's a time for doing things.

Amazing job on the cockpit, very inspiring.
I see it's an italeri kit, so i'm curious about your opinion on the kit alone, because i have 2 italeri kits in progress, and they're ok but often have really poor fits.

i am building the E/H model.. but the decals for the raaf represent an A variant!! (A97-205). Anyway.... It is a tricky kit, because, quite frankly, I have learnt alot in the 8 months since I started..

If you need any reference photos please let me know. I still work on these aircraft. and I'm very interested to see how it comes out. I plan to purchase one of these kits and do an HC-130 refueler.

good luck with the build

Thanks, if you have some good pictures of the cargo bay / interior that would be awesome.
I have heaps of photos of the cargo bay, I'll email you some if you want...

That would be really cool. Thanks.
I'm hoping to get re-starting this build right after the spring contest. The build was getting the better of me so I set it aside.

::). Oh oh! Are saying you stopped?

Oh well..... Better shelve it than throwing it at The wall

Will be watching when you get back at it

LOL. Yep, seeing that I'm building it for someone else - pitching it against a wall would have been bad. Besides, I don't like to think that I've "stopped", rather I'm "paused". ::)

Back to it soon enough. I just really want to wrap up my contest builds - one I'll finish for sure, the other, well that is anybodies guess.

I know what you mean about being 'paused'.. I have had a build that has been 'paused' multiple times through it's 5+ years, and I still have a ways to go.

Wow, that detail of the cockpit is truly amazing! Are those gauges & switches etc. painted or decals?!

I did do some painting on the gauges and levers, but mainly they are a pre-painted PE set.

After months and months of this thing sitting, I'm back to it. See how long it lasts... ::)

Last time I touched this kit was May of last year. The cockpit was coming along, but after a test fit with the fuselage, I noticed that the cabin bulkhead was crooked and the the whole assembly would not close up properly. That and being overwhelmed by the cargo deck PE made me feel like just putting this one aside for awhile. Couple weeks ago I took the kit out and started back into it. I though that if I took my razor saw and cut the back cabin bulkhead away I could straighten it out so it would fit better in the fuselage. So that's what I did - what I did not do is support the entire flight deck assembly as I cut through. The assembly fell to the floor and broke into a ton of parts. After a few colourful metaphors, I was able to recover almost all of the pieces.

The past couple weeks I've been shimming, repairing and re-assembling the monstrosity. It's actually starting to come together, I've begun painting and have added the last of the flight deck PE. Now I'm working on the cargo deck rollers/rails. I decided to build up only two sets of rails - it just looked to congested with four rows of rails.

The other thing I've done is add so weights to make sure she sits on wheels. Found out that a pinewood derby car weight fits perfect. I taped the major assemblies together and tested it out. I still might add a few steel ball bearings to the nose just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Jason

Must finish, Hercules........................ :p
