Back into the WIP/stalled pile for this next build.
This one started life as the Revell "Anakin's Jedi Starfighter" from the Clone Wars series.
Like with the "Charin's Baby" build from a bit back, I wanted to make this one a seriously kitted out version.

From the RP that spawned "Baby," this fighter is envisioned to be Lord Vader's personal ship.

I started by giving the kit cockpit a wash to bring out the detail that's there.

Finished the main kit up stock from there.

Initially, for the hyperdrive pods, I decided I'd go with the engines from a 1/72 SR-71 Blackbird.

As can be clearly seen, though, the 1/72 engines were just too big for the ship

So, I took a different route.
First, I replaced the lower guns with torpedo tubes made from a syringe and Aves Apoxie Sculpt.

Then, I replaced the upper guns with the machine guns from the AMT Batmobile.

This time, I attached smaller engine pods from the Revell 1/110 Snap-Tite SR-71 Blackbird

After adding the greeblie bits of the AMT Batmobile's "diagnostic computer" to the front for some bracing, I think we're about ready for primer

Interesting concept you have going there. I need to try my hand at bashing soon.

Pretty cool!
Reminds me of a starfighter Anakin has been flying at the beginning of the Clone Wars in the original cartoon-series and "republic" comics :

That little girl was my inspiration for both this one, and "Baby"

Paint has begun in earnest on the "Angel"
Started with a base grey primer coat to make her look "whole"

Then I gave her an overall coat of blue, which would become the accent color

Masked off the areas I wanted to keep blue, before giving the ship an overall coat of a slightly darker grey than my primer coat.

Masks removed to reveal the striping underneath.

I like that colour scheme. Really brings the thing closer to the dark side. Looking forward to seeing her weathered!

Your bench is almost as messy as mine! I like this idea alot- i wonder what you would get if you turned the cockpit around and reversed the engine pods? In my head it would look like a scorpion. great work!

Great build Patrick! You are modeling the way everybody should, with imagination and most of all fun. The paint scheme looks great. Can't wait to see more!

Sweet!
I'm digging the color-scheme as well.
Most awesome build, Q, I do enjoy the results greatly :)

I didnt think the engines you added were going to
work when i saw them in black......but once they
were primed it looks very COOL! Good concept
on this it works well!!

Thanks for the comments, guys

All right, folks.
At this point, I've painted in the engines and guns with a metallic dark blue
I have added custom markings based on some I found over at DeviantArt.com.
I've added a black wash to the ship to bring out detail.
I then drybrushed the whole ship in silver, then drybrushed areas in Vallejo Smoke to add more accent.

R2 was giving a light blue wash to make him look different from Artoo.
She's finished.

These last two shots show the "Angel" with Charin Pohl's "Baby" to show the differences between the two

Another great one of a kind Q! I think those Blackbird engines look right at home. I love the colour scheme and paint/weathering in general. Congrats on another very successful model build Q! :)
