Over the New Year's holiday while staying at the in-laws' place, I got started on this snap fit Enterprise E. We've got our own room at that house and I have my own hobby work table with some basic tools and supplies to work on models while we're staying there.

This kit needed some sanding and a little bit of putty work. The instructions say to paint the impulse engines red and the deflector dish yellow. The yellow didn't really do much for me as pictures of the E look so much better with a pale blue glow. I have to admit that I am not a fan of any of the TNG movies, but I do love the E's design. Not sure if it was a Probert design or not, but it just looks so slick and deadly.

I've primed the kit and last night I painted the engines fluorescent red atop the red I already used. Here they look under regular lighting.

And here they look under a blacklight.

I did something similar for the collector dish. I'm using Gaia Notes' Arpeggio of Blue Steel fluorescent/glow-in-the-dark lacquers. The impulse engines were painted fluorescent red and the collector dish underneath was painted with fluorescent white with a bit of fluorescent blue added. I'll mask these areas off before painting the main color. As for the nacelles, decals are provided for those. I wonder, however, if I cut into the decals, I might be able to use more fluorescent paints... Red for the Bussards, and blue for the flux chillers. Hmmm...
