It's the "little" resin kit, very detailed from ALLIANCE.

You may recognize those pictures. Box art and kit parts. Very detailed, like I said, and with a solid resin stand and even a Galactica logo.

Here was the first shots of the kit parts, with some paint on it (just to reveal the details, helping me to get to it...).

After some painting, adding some metal details on the front, dry brusing, washing etc.

Here is what electronic part I used as an antennae.

Some brown washes from Citadel later... I added some blueish colors here and there... Doing the paneling was a long process but eventually rewarded with a great result.

Some comparison with a picture found on the web.

It was a little too dark IMHO so after a little white dry brush here is what i've got.

Simply not enough, I've got to use the stand with style. It was painted black and the logo copper and gold. But still it wasn't enough. Fortunatly i put my hands on a picture, the one you've got in the very little model kit from AMT Star Wars back in 1999.

I cut a circle in order to give some space for the logo.

And here is the Galactica in all its glory with the completed stand. Mission complete ! :D

Excellent work on this one!
And the stand is absolutely awesome - a very atmospheric one. Thumbs up! :)

Terrific work! Thanks for all the great pics. Looks like an excellent little kit and you've made the most out of it.

Love the stand! :)

two thumbs up. in fact, i feel bad i dont have any more thumbs to give!

booooooooodiful ;D

What scale is it? Doesn't look that much smaller than the Moebius kit.

Which reminds me...I should actually try to finish mine!

The kit is that good that it's just a guilty pleasure to paint on it. Building with this kind of high quality GK is kinda have half the job done.

The kit is quite small. I can hold it in my hand. 1/9600 scale if i'm right. 3 or 4 times smaller than the Moebius kit right ?

The Moebius kit is 1/4105, roughly 2.33 times the size....looks deceiving when I see it in your hand and I compare the Moebius kit beside me.

Would love to have one of the original Revell Galactica kits, but too cheap to pay what they want for one on Evilbay. Will never understand why Revell has never re-issued the kit, when they have re-issued the other 3 kits at least 3-4 times.

It was reissued a number of times I think. Seen it 10 years ago in France, didn't get one though... Waited to find it on ebay. One in perfect condition, another one before that, built and badly painted.
It was this one...

If you want a kit and not a collector object in mint condition, I think you can find it easily enough.

Though, if the price is that high, try to obtain the resin kit, an accurate model from... Let's see... Timeslip creation ? Don't remember it. Don't have it, a friend of mine exhibit it last year, and it's GREAT !
Found this link but guess it's not available anymore... :(

Actually the Revell Galactica kit was only ever issued twice. Once soon after the show came on TV, and then when they brought the terrible (but funny to look back on it now) Galactica 1980 out. The Viper, Raider, and Cylon Basestar has been re-released at least 2-3 times since then, but never Galactica again.

Prices I have seen them go on EBay are approaching $100....which is far to much to pay for that kit....I like, it, I want it, but not that badly.

Actually in the last few months it has been selling for closer to $150. I am looking to pick up one to build, but not at that price.

Mmmm... I'm pretty bad sure that there was a re-issue 10 years ago, year 2000, with the other kit too. Maybe available only in europe (Germany, France, Belgium ?).

I have to check my Galactica and see what year is printed on the box. It will wait though, it's in a bigger box, under bigger boxes :D

BTW, got them for cheap, when I found them. It was on 2004 or 2005.

Revell didn't re-issue the Galactica basically for lack of resources.
While the other kits could be made decent with a new sprue or two of parts, the Galactica herself would have almost needed a whole new tooling.
Her basic shape was correct, but proportions and details were way off.
In short, Revell didn't want to fork out the money at the time. Especially with the "NEW" BSG getting all of the press at 30th Anniversary time.

The original Galactica was first released in 1978, and then again in 1997....and that was it, and to top it off, the '97 run was a fairly small run, and sold out rather quickly.

The Viper was originally released in '78, '98 and then 2008, same with the Raider and the Basestar....but not so for the Galactica.

As far as "fixing" the kits....I believe the only one they did anything to was the Viper, the other 2 remained the same other than maybe shooting a few parts in clear that were once reg. styrene. They didn't need to do anything to the Galactica kit....released it as it, and it would probably have out sold the other 3 combined (ok, at least outsold the Basestar and Raider combined).
