Building an Italeri Bedford QL. Two reasons, I thought it looked kind of cool, and I'm a Vauxhall / Bedford man at heart.
I'm thinking of just doing this ootb basically but with additional storage on the deck. Many of these trucks later in the war were converted back to general transport, so… I'm thinking this has been removed from gun duties and just being pressed into service as part of the supply line.
Sounds feasible?
So off we go…

Instructions are nice and clear it has to be said.

Chassis is step one so that seems a logical place to start.
The moulding is good and straight so that's a good start!

It seems an easy build up so far but there is a quite a bit of flash and large attachment points to clean up.
I appreciate though that it's an old kit. So we'll just have to put up with it. Ever onward chaps!

Got to say, the cab was tricky in getting everything to line up. I think I've managed to put the dashboard in a bit low, so will just have to work around it.
The more astute among you may have noticed there is no engine.
I looked at it, realised it wasn't going to be seen, then thought….cobblers to it!
Although it will be kept in the spares box for use another time.

So this looks like wheely good fun…. (See what I did there?)
They come in two halves so end up with a fairly pronounced seam line . But 5 minutes with a file and they clean up quite well.

So on with paint!
I give them a VERY light coat of white primer from a rattle can.
I find it gives a good key and lends depth to areas.
More to come…..
