Ok, painting aircraft canopies..

If the cockpit interior calls for one colour, and the outside another...
Would it work if I painted the interior colour on the "outside" then painted the exterior colour over it using the outer masks? Ie like painting rc car shells......

Or will I really need to mask the inside and paint that?

Nope, that is exactly how it is done. All the canopy lines are usually on the outside anyway.

Mask, Interior color, then exterior color, unmask and viola!

On some canopies I've masked BOTH inside and outside, painting each separately, but admittedly the subtlety is likely never noticed. :)

It's also harder to get the alignment right if you do the double mask thing. End result, single mask/double paint is easier and looks more accurate to the naked eye.
