Challenger 2

Hey DAWG,

Looks Great ! I Dig all of th Shirting ...... This is really gonna PoP after some weathering !

Small update here. After the decals went on I started to do some drybrushing to bring out some details and give some color modulation to it. I did that last night and woke up today and hated it. I realized that almost all of my preshading wash gone and it just didnt look right. So I took my base color and added a few drops of black to it and did post shading (which I have NEVER done and was really nervous to do) to try and save this kit. I think it looks a lot better than when I woke up. Now I just need to add a few small spots of rust and grime and maybe some fuel staining as well.

I've done some color variation to the rear barrels here. I'm thinking I'm going to take it a little further and see where it ends up.

I've also added some variation and shading to the skirting. I still have to finish the road wheels though.

Thanks Norm. I've got more to do but I'm waiting on my order of AK Interactive stuff. I ordered the streaking set and a bottle of the fuel stains. I cant wait to try that stuff out.

Yeah I hear you! I just received an order today.... 9 bottles of pigments.... aK I. Of course!

Still trying to get my hands on Pigment fixative .... Harder to do than you think!

Keep up the good work!

As I have yet to use pigments, I've been meaning to ask. What do you use as a fixative?
I havent used pigments a lot either, but when I have I used Mig Pigments. As far as what to mix them with it depends on the effect you want. When I was building up mud on the wheels and under carriage I used white glue and water to make it chunky. When I was going for streaks and rust effects I used the Mig thinner. I'm sure there more techniques but thats all I've done so far, hope that helps.

If you mix with rubbing alcohol it evaporates quickly giving you a "dried caked on" mud look.

Matt varnish works, but no matter what you use a finger will still remove it so best to avoid the pigs until you are done, Also note anything you use to hold them in place will darken them

Yeah I put in a fairly large order, mostly for my Dragon M1A2 SEP and I ordered the AFV Lens coating. Two days later I saw your youtube video on how to make it with those streamers lol. Oh well I will see how these work, they are specifically designed for the M1. Nice video by the way.

Nice looking modern beast. The modern vehicles always have that sleek, ballistic shape to them.
Very cool. I'm sure the weathering will bring out more the already great job you've done.
Speaking of weathering...I've had very good results with art store Conte pastels(these are the really
hard, dense pigment types). Scrape them down...apply with Windex........let dry. The best thing is that you
really have to rub to remove them, not like soft pastels. Also re-wetting with Windex and you can work them again...add more....take some off. Best thing....cost only about $5.00 for them, they'll last forever.
Keep up the good work. Bill

Okay well I got my order of AK Interactive stuff yesterday and was able to use it today. It was my first time trying it but man it was really easy to use. I just wanted a light effect nothing too heavy and I was happy with the results. I also tried out the fuel stains which was even easier, all you do is put it on and let it dry! Overall Im happy with it. The stuff is very user friendly and easy to wipe off if you get too much. Well thats all for now thanks for looking.
