2X Hu 29
1X Hu 234
1X Hu 224 Not as exact, but better than 'good'

Wow! That was impressive. I have a few empty cans, the kind you buy empty, just for something like this I guess. Was Humbrol 71 the correct match for C321?

I wouldn't know, the instructions for the Type 3 were discarded after I finished the kit. The Type 3 has a three colour scheme though, and is at the other end of the war from the Type 92.
That's why I asked: I was wondering if the colours used were the same, just in a three-colour scheme rather than a four-colour one.

Anyway, the instructions for Fine Molds's Type 3 are on Scalemates (scroll down to Instructions), but the painting instructions differ between that release and a later one of the same kit so that's not really helpful here.

I have never tried Mr Hobby, I just never find good matches for Humbrol for it, that's why I have developed a dislike for Mr Hobby
Um … I find that a bit of an odd statement :) You don't like a paint brand because you can't find good Humbrol equivalents to it?

But doesn't this site help? Unfortunately Scalemates doesn't seem to have instructions for the Pit Road Type 92 kits, so I can't check the actual colours you need.

That site actually helps a lot, thanks! :)

Don't take my statement too seriously, it's just easier when you find good Humbrol matches. :) Mr Hobby is acrylic, isn't it? It's hard to find around where I live, and if they have enamel it's not allowed to import anymore. So, if I want to use enamels, then the only option is pretty much Humbrol

Not really
C321 Light Brown
4X Hu 94
5X Hu 72
2X Hu 83
2X Hu 225
Of course one of the things you are going to have to consider going into this is, the consistency of the paints.
Some thicker, some thinner.
I try to pre-thin all my paint before I start to mix.
XF-1 Flat Black Tamiya, which I use, is an extremely dense color. I've ruined more paint mixes with that color than I care to mention.
Your perception of color will be different from mine. Your monitor, lighting, blah, blah, blah.
It's what I do.
Lower right half, is what you are looking for.

Thanks! I'll keep your advice to thin the paint first in mind as well

The colours have different numbers in that instruction to mine, the colours for the tank given in the instructions in my kit are C321, C522, C525 and C526, though TC13, TC16 and TC17 have the same name in Japanese, and are probably similar colours
the paint list I have shows these four C-series colors as being Old Reference.
TC, I would say is the current numbering.
I could be wrong.

There are several members here that know a good deal about various paint conversion charts and conversion apps ,
we will try and summon @blakeh1 to start
Sorry, tons of time spent looking at Naval stuff, no clue when it comes to tanks

But looking forward to the build and learning some new stuff regrading tanks /Japan army vehicles

I was referring to the paint brand conversion charts / apps .
I think you were part of those convos ?

I know you don't do armor

It is, I agree :)

Mr Hobby is acrylic, isn't it?
It's an acrylic lacquer, which most people call just "lacquer" paint. Don't confuse it with Mr. Hobby Aqueous, which is an alcohol-based acrylic from the same manufacturer, or with Mr. Hobby Acrysion, which is some kind of weird hybrid, I think.

I think so too, at least in your photo. Here's mine:

The Parched Grass (khaki) is from the Mr. Hobby Imperial Japanese Army paint set:

The other two colours are not, because when I tried spraying that paint, this happened:

Notice not just the spiderwebs on the model, but also the filter of my spray booth behind it: there was a skin of paint on it, that almost blocked the airflow :( When I asked on a forum, I was told to use Mr. Leveling Thinner instead of the cellulose thinner from the hardware store I had used; after ordering a bottle of that, I tried again, but the result was exactly the same. At that point, I gave away the paint set as well as the couple of other bottles of Mr. Hobby lacquer paints I owned because I CBA to figure out how to use this paint when I've got plenty of others that do work fine for me.

Anyway, TC15 Parched Grass turned out to be fairly close to Tamiya XF-49 Khaki, so if I ever build another Japanese tank in this scheme, I will probably just use that instead. The other two colours on the tank are Vallejo Model Air, the green I think is 71.043 US Olive Drab and the brown I know for sure is 71.041 RAL8017 Rotbraun/Armour Brown. I used these because they were very close to TC14 and TC13 that were in the Mr. Hobby paint set. (Note that I then oversprayed all three colours with lighter versions in random patches to break the monotony.)

That's a nice model, for sure :)

How did you get the tracks to sag, if you used the rubber tracks included in the kit that is?

Thanks :) Those are metal Friul tracks, the first (and only) set I ever used :) These Japanese tanks are known for having relatively loose tracks, and my kit only came with single-piece tracks that would be very tight. The only alternatives I could find were these and a set from Model Kasten, so I decided to try Friul.

The more recent releases of these Fine Molds kits have link-and-length tracks with sag already moulded in, I learned on another forum.

I don't buy track replacement sets very often myself. I'm not a huge fan of separate tracks links, as they feel too much like work, I like link-and-lenght tracks though
