I am going to build a revell 1/144 concorde for a friend who is just nuts about flying and especially the concorde.

Has anyone built this kit and if so do you have any advice as the last aircraft I built was 42 years ago!!

Would like to get it right for my friend as he has helped me with lot's of free stuff for my armour builds.

I dont build airliners, but this one has been on my list to do. I mean its the Concorde! LOL I want to do it along with the XB-70 I have.

All that to say I have no earthly clue how good this kit is or is not.

I will keep you posted. I have to admit I'm no expert on aircraft building but so far the kit seems OK. Very impressed with the decals supplied.

Its good to stray from your norm now and again. I surprised myself when I did the D9R dozer. I found that I could apply everything from building planes to that kit. Honestly, a model is a model. Just differently shaped pieces. I think we make it a bigger deal than it really is.

How is the detail of the cockpit?

This looks like a fun build and, might come to light in the 'ol crystal ball for a future build.

There is no interior detail at all. For this build I think I will just paint out the front inside in a grey/black just in case my friend decides to get a magnifying glass to look in.

Probably going to do a fair bit over the weekend so will post some progress photos.

So just getting started on this. It's a pretty good fit, not too much flash and easy instructions, I'm liking it so far.

Got a bit of filling and sanding to do before I give it a coat of white primer.

Different options for in flight, taxi, and on the deck so my friend has requested gear down and nose up as if it was at the stand. Apparently the nose has to go down for taxi so the pilots can see where they are going!!.

More to follow.

What are the dimensions?
It looks like this will build a large plane.

It's actually a nice size, my friend is going to have it on his desk.

Done a little more on the old gal. Got all the main parts fitted and primed. A little bit more filling and sanding before the top coats is needed, the wheels took 3 attempts before I was almost happy with them.

Need to ask my friend if he wants it straight out of the factory or weathered a little.

Next steps will be undercarriage and covers to fit then the top coats, cockpit glass, gloss varnish and decals.

So my friend has decided straight out of the factory finish. That makes it a little bit harder as a good weathering covers a multitude of sins.

Got the build done with just the canopy to sort out. She's almost ready for a couple of fine gloss white top coats then the final clear gloss finish.

Then touching in anything I missed, decals, some panel line's and finish coat to seal it.

Looking awesome!

I find it so much harder to paint detail well kept factory finish style. I always feel like it comes out too toy like or fake looking. I have seen people do wonderful jobs with that style though, It just comes harder for me than beat up and weathered stuff

You'll have a nice desktop model for your friend, Pantherman!
That kit is 40 years old this year, by the way. First released all the way back in 1983.

Thanks Brad, I think he will like it. I am wondering if I should just highlight the lines to really show off the full extent of the fuselage and wings although he has asked for just white, brand spanking new finish.

Could you highlight with a light grey, maybe a subtle hint to contour that magnificent bird? Just a thought.
