Duel tiger 1 builds starting with Andy's 1/16.

Lower hull done up minus cables, wiring for the s mine launchers and some small parts done.

Going to start on main gun and turret ...

Also need to make a decision on the rear exhaust area weather to leave like second picture above or include second set of shrouds ... Like in third pic. I have seen done both ways ...

What a behemoth!
I have to keep reminding myself that we technically have the same hobby!

At that scale, the various component parts actually stand on their own...

Coming along nicely!

I'll vote for the full length shroud. I like the way they look, especially if they got some damage.

Wait, that's 116th. Oh wow no wonder it looks so cool. That thing's big

AFAIK those shrouds were usually on the tank, so I wouldn't leave them off. As for the overall length, that's easy enough: real length overall, gun forward, is 8450 mm (per Spielberger) so in 1:16 the model should be 52.8 cm long. The hull alone is 6136 mm, or 38.4 cm in 1:16.

So .. because the gun on this thing on interior is so nice and I can have open every hatch the interior of the turret is a choice thing... I decided to make visable . This is scratch building so far. More to do for sure but defo would like to be able to see something...

Work in progress....

Interior done for now at least. I realize not perfect but it does stick to where everything is or should be so on. To me it does make a difference and will look good when weathered and seen, hope y'all like it.... Moving on to gun in there so on, and getting it all buttoned up inside....

Those are great shots!

What kind of lighting was in tanks anyhow?
I haven't built enough vehicle interiors to know, or to have noticed.

German WWII tanks had interior lighting. My 1/16 Tiger II and Panzer IV had molded electrical lines and fixtures on the interior of the turret roof. You can get aftermarket light fixtures from AFV Modeler, to replace the kit versions... but I didn't go that far down the rabbit hole. :)

Ooh, tiger for tea!
Looking very insect like without bogies or tracks...

How do you know which hatches to leave interior colour versus exterior?

Paint coverage so even... At this scale I'd be hosed painting with a brush!

Also interesting to see just how crisp the edges are, versus the rounded edges of a Sherman, for instance.

The hatch's are sorta like this that bottom hatch would never be open except to load up the tank...

The other hatch's are usually interior color, but you will drive a lot with hatch's open so all the vehicles in my old unit those were painted outdoor colors and not interior colors. Nothing worse than a blob of white when you wanna stay hidden lol. I would be surprised if they did not do that in WW2... I be damn if I'm driving around with hatch's open and white ha.

That took a lot of paint! Feel like I been painting all day even with airbrush. That took a good amount of effort.

Yeah I have two Shermans to do eventually. I will get there. I am looking forward getting to those. I'm sort of on this WW2 type kick I guess right now.

But if I remember correctly they painted the interior of hatch's on tiger tanks exterior color as well .. not everyone does...
