Gettin paid to build models?

I'm pretty much late on this topic/thread.
The guys have basically summed it all up, especially Ken.
All I can say, from my personal experience, is that you REALLY have to love building models if you want to do comm work and try to make a living out of it. I have been doing comm work for nearly ten years. It is fun at times and the money you make is not too bad. You have to keep in mind that you are building for someone else and at times to deadlines. This sometimes becomes a chore, especially if the subject your building and painting is not of interest to you. Once you also start building for publication and doing the comm's then it can get stressy and overwhelming at times.
One way to get started is buy selling on ebay. Then you will gain the attention of collectors. These are quite often the people who comm you to build a model, not your fellow model builder.
I enjoyed it up until a year or so ago, now I turn down comm work and build for FUN.
As for all the other questions, well the guys have already summed it up.
