Good hobby for retired auto mechanics

Also good for soon-to-retire aircraft mechanics. As a Ford guy, my collection will be focused on replicating cars I've owned in the past, and some that are just cool.

Not to slam a GM guy, but my "practice kit" is a Trans Am. I say practice because I've not done a model in 55 years, and I'll make arly mistakes on that. The old days of Testors glue strings on windows and brushed on goopy paint seem to have gone bye-bye.

Like the guitars, I hope my wife doesn't sell the model suff I've purchased for what I told her I paid for it.

Cool, mcs...
I'm just delivering the Camaro... then I go back to work on the 1967 Fury III which is a convertible that I need to convert to a hardtop.
Where are you located ?

Coincidentally, I have a Galaxie I need to modify to a convertible. Any chance your Fury came with a boot for the retracted top? I'd be interested in getting something close to adapt to my kit.

I'm in a Detroit suburb. (Hockey fans would know, based on my profile pic.)

Sorry - don't do much hockey....
I just used a seat back from my junk box.
That seemed to work OK...
What year Galaxie ?
I learned to drive a stick on my Mom's 62...

'65 XL convertible. Mine has factory AC with in-dash outlets. Unfortunately, Ford lost all build information (types & numbers produced) for everything prior to 1966.

There were about 8900 XL 'verts made, but no count on how many had the in-dash air, 390 4 bbl. It's rare, but HOW rare?

I also have a '66 standard Galaxie. Both cars are in "rebuild" state (ask my wife and they are junk that keeps her from parking in the garage).

I'll gove that seat-back thought a try. Might be pretty close. THANKS!

Wow, Paul, that is one heck of a collection of builds, excellent! Not being a car guy myself, I'm too messy, I always appreciate how you guys get such great results from your builds. I know I've got three car models in the stash, but they are not in the cue, but maybe someday.

Welcome to the Addict, btw!;) Cheers, Ski.

Yup, I had a good laugh when you first posted that...........I'm Boston Bruins, but when they get eliminated from post season play, I'm rooting for any team that's not Canadian!

no offense to my northern brothers, its just the way it is.... .

Oh yeah, welcome aboard Paul!
