First time using AK's Worn Effects. Only got to one side of the catapult so I'm curious to see how easy the paint chips tomorrow.
Used a damp sponge to remove the top layer a bit at a time. Stiff brush took off my grey and rust base (I didn't seal the 'rust' coat â€"wanted to see if I needed too) but the sponge did some marvelous work.
Nice choice Ian ! ,quite fancy doing one of those myself ....of to a flying start ,the heavy chipping looks good . Keep it coming ....nice big pics too
Nothing major today. I found myself getting distracted by AK's Dark Steel pigment, Engine Oil and Light Rust wash and began experimenting in one part of the catapult structure. Didn't make for a productive evening.
I've seen other produce some good results with "polishable" metalizer paints. Spray and then polish/buff with a cloth or an piece of nylon fabric. The Model Master line seems to be popular. I remember seeing a thread on that topic here on the forums, have to dig to find it again however...
It's interesting how well the worn effects (ie. hairsrpay method) works. The base was sprayed with the AK stuff and chipped beautifully. I was all in the zone with the airbrush and sprayed the silver, completely forgetting that all important layer of worn effects, but I went ahead and applied the water/sponge method after about 30 mins or so just to see what would happen and it's a vastly different look.
