Heavily Modified YT-1300

That's looking pretty sweet! It makes me wish I'd chopped-up my old Falcon kit instead of just giving it a different paint job.

oooo good call on using those thrust vector plates....those will be nice in combination with those stap nozzles. might i suggest cutting them up into flaps that match the exhausts a little more? kind if like the "flaps" on the devastator star destroyer?

Hmmm. that's a good idea. Honestly I was gonna scrap the thrust vector plates but yes, I should use them like suggested. Good call and since I have them.

I have an ERTL Star Destroyer kit, that I'll probably never build. I should see if there are any usable parts in that kit....Nope. Without a pile of resin and some serious scribing that kit is a dud IMO.

I also have a second MPC Falcon, with all the resin. I say that to say that I have 4 kit quad guns so I can give this build more firepower if need be.

It is hard to pull off a change to an iconic shape. you have done a brilliant job on the changes. I have a beater partial Falcon kit that I got at a yard sale last summer. You have inspired me to do something different with it. Thanks.

Thanks man but this isn't MY design. Not at all. This is definitely a group effort.

Let's just hope I can get all the plastic back in the right place. ;)

quick thought if you want to use those extra quad-cannons and have 4...
you could put 2 on the underside where those mechanical access bays are, the trapezoidal ones on the front saucer...

I'm only late to the party because I couldn't camp on this thread from work, guys. :p :p :p
Scott, this looks like it's going to be downright wicked.

Wow you work at cracking pace...

The only thing I would add is that whatever design you choose, and I like them all, is that the design should reflect that everything in the star wars universe is very utilitarian. That the thing I love about star wars is that everything LOOKS like it would actually work

Thanks Q. LOL - . I have SMA as my homepage at work so everytime I open the browser I check it.

Good point to keep in mind.

I haven't mentioned this but should because it affects the build.

I want to make a 'Crashed on Tatouine' diorama with this YT crashed and a sand trooper squad investigating. I've thought of having the pilot of the YT hidding in the wreckage. I have an in-scale DewBack from micro machines OR a 1/72 AP-TP, and a pile of resin 1/72 storm troopers (plus 2 cantina sets so the pilot figure can be 'canon')

I want to model a 'soft landing' of the YT. Not in pieces...there was a model of a crashed bomber that Shep Paine did....

Could be on the edge of a dune, partly buried. Not sure. I don't want it to become a HUGE dio, but I feel like building another dio. This interests me more, right now, than a 1.25 garage dio so...

But I gotta finish the Rig Rat first. Gotta finish. MJ and his star wars talk....

And...I've sacrificing this kit for greeblies...so far.

It has some nice stuff. I've started by assembling the gun...but I won't finish it. It has some nice parts...couple Falcon "tranny by cockpit" looking parts. I'll raid car parts too...and I have some 1.72 tanks but the best bits are gone. I have a Pod Racer kit...but hate to donate it. That could be a fun build someday. We'll see. They are on eBay...

Sorry for all my Star Wars talk Scott! Lol. I really like the sound of that dewback sniffing around. Are you going to have the back dug in with the mandibles pointing up at an angle? That would be cool. And what about no crash marks? As if the ship landed weeks ago and the dunes have moved 'careful Anni another sand storms coming ::)' sort of thing with some of the engine deck smoothly covered with sand? The pilots starving but has to stay on board kind of thing? Man I could write a book Allready on this one dio! Lol

Don't be sorry man. ;) Back dug in a bit could be cool. I don't want to try and do a skid in the sand...it needs to look like it's been there a while.

Break off a one of the mandibles, i dare you. ::)

Have it snapped off and just hanging with all the guts hanging out, I double dare you ;D
