I'm working on the Enterprise Refit 1/1000 model and need to paint the front of the warp nacelles. The problem is the piece is really small and it's black with a sorta raised white cross. See this picture - http://www.starshipmodeler.com/trek/md_enta-53.jpg
My question - is there a way to paint this piece that ensures crisp lines? Masking seems nigh impossible as the model piece is very small and the cross is super thin.
A couple suggestions I got so far are:
1. Spray the part white with enamel, paint the grills black with acrylic and then using acrylic thinner to remove excess black paint without removing the white enamel.
2. Use a black gundam marker on the grills and wipe away excess.
Have folks here tried either of these options? Is there another approach I should consider?
