Hello All,

I am a newbie and wanted to let you know that I am planning to start a project for the Iran-Iraq War.

I purchased a 1/32 MiG-21 MF and an F-5E from ebay to begin with. As for decals, I also purchased Iraqi MiG-21 decals by Strike Eagle but no luck for any IRIAF F-5E on 1/32 scale.

Any feedback or input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi-Decal out of Poland used to make a set for the Iranian F-5E/F series in both 1/48 and 1/72, don't know if they are still in production or not though.

Hey, that's an interesting subject. It was a long bloody war.
I built an Iraqi Mirage F.1 some years ago: http://www.arcair.com/Gal7/6401-6500/gal6453-Mirage-Arvizu/00.shtm
Fortunately for you now there is more information available. Check http://www.acig.info
Unfortunately Hi-Decal don't produce 1/32 decals as far as I know.
BTW I know that AFV Club's F-5F (kit #48106) includes decals for an IRIAF plane although I don't know if the are from the 80-88 period.

Thank you so much for the info. I remember the war very vividly and for me it was a personal experience.

You Mirage F-1Q looks good although the colors look kind of strong. Good job!

The AFV Club's F-5F (kit #48106) that you mentioned is great but it is the F version. I need the E version single seater.

Will it look too bad if I apply the 1/48 decal on the 1/32? I guess it will. :(

What should I do now? Can I make my own decal using a laser printer and a special decal paper? I am just guessing.

Sorry, missed the part that it was 1/32.

It is possible maybe if you contact Hi-Decal that they may be able to make you a one off 1/32 set of that sheet, never hurts to ask.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some input about air brushing, preshading and dry brushing.

For cockpit, should I dry brush it with black or white on the torquoise control panel to have a better depth and contrast?

For exterior, is preshading a must or can I do with shading rivets and panel lines AFTER airbrushing(with very diluted black and 0 brush)?

Please advise. Thanks.
