Hi all,

I recently began work on the tamiya merkava, and have run into a issue in regards to painting.

The kit calls for tamiya desert yellow, but this has proven to look very dark and out of place.

My local hobby shop only carries tamiya acrylics, so could some be kind enough to suggest a mix that wields a realistic looking desert tone?

Thanks.

The Merks are many different colors, while the Tamiya Desert Yellow might be OK, as I don't think the IDF had switched to their more grey color until later on, so don't know if any of the Merk Is were ever painted with the more greyish color.

I recently painting my BTR-50 with a mix of Desert Yellow, Buff and Deck Tan to lighten the Desert Yellow up some for an Iraqi sand color. Don't know if that is more in tune to what you are thinking or not.

I don't remember the exact mixture, but it was something like 20 parts Desert Yellow, 10 parts Buff, and 5 parts Deck Tan. I find it took much of the yellow out of the yellow out of the desert yellow and left it more on the tan/sandy side.
