Hello all,
As said on my previous post, I am starting to build the Takom 1/4 ton 4x4 Utility truck (btw this is for me a Jeep Willys??).
I am planning to do use some chipping fluid below the olive drab paint. My question to the experts: which color should be below the Olive Drab: red Oxyde or steel or??
Thanks

It is a Willys Jeep, or perhaps a Ford GPA, but if they put that on the box without paying royalties, Takom will probably get sued. Welcome to the ludicrous world of companies who made things eighty years ago.

Looks good. Personally I don't have a lot of experience with chipping fluids so I don't know how they preform, I normally chip by hand with a brush and lots of patience.

Well, maybe will repaint the front bumper.. ?

I dont have neither... just trying, and it worked quite well. But obviously need some more practice

If your not happy with the chipping results, one thing to try is to add the green color on top of the chips with a scrap of sponge or small brush, if you don't want to start from scratch.

already re-painted the bumper
Looking good; at this stage, the hard to access spots are worth doing some preliminary weathering, but waiting until vehicle assembly is further along can help decide which areas of most wear make most sense.
For reference, there a lots of 'walk-around' photos out there of ww2 jeeps and jeep off-roader under-carriages.

Thanks BB, and yes looking at those pictures... The chipping was to try something different, and also, coz I dont want to cover the full model with mud.. Light weathering as I always do.
This model is surprising me! For the price, I was expecting something a lot simpler, while there are lots of details and quite good fitting (so far).
