Hi Guys
I've achieved quite a lot this week. I wanted to get the building completed, so I started with the kids that are going to be stood inside it. They were painted with acrylics and then the flesh was done with oils.
I weathered the front of the building, I wanted a very unused, overgrown look so plenty of moss and foliage. For moss I use railway scale grass flock which scales well and then some aftermarket ivy and plants. I also finalised the debris on the roof part and fixed in the children. I am waiting for some AK slimy green to turn up and then will detail further with this.
Finally I managed to get on with the Land Wasser Schlepper paint.
I mixed a light blue for the interior floor and a tan colour for the walls.
They look bright at this stage but next I used oils to define the detail and dull it down and give it a weathered look. I also painted in the details of the seats and the dash and have shown it with my sleeping drunk figure, who needs a lick of oils to finish his face and hands.
Once this was all dried I masked up the interior ready for doing the exterior airbrushing. Handily this kit comes complete with window mask stickers which made the job easier.
I toyed with various camo styles that the vehicle has been depicted with but decided that as there is so much going on anyway that a faded german grey would be better.
The exterior was airbrushed with vallejo colours, black grey as a preshade and german grey as the main colour. I was trying to get a faded look and light grey was mixed in to the german grey at different stages to get the paint gradually lighter and to highlight various areas.
The next stage was to do some chipping with light grey and brown acrylics and then I thinned some black oil paint and used this to highlight the edges of the hatches, windows, panel gaps etc... Once this has dried I will do some more oil weathering and rusting.
One last thing I wanted was an army record player to be on the LWS so I took a Tamiya hand grenade case, scratched off all the external ribbing and then scratch built the record player interior with parts from the scrap box.
As always, thanks for looking
