Nice work so far, Tony!

A few quick question for you:
Your builds always have metal tracks. I just got my first set of FriulModel tracks for a Merkava I'm working on. I'm using 0.5 mm brass rod instead of the brass wire supplied with the tracks. Do you find that you have to glue in the rod/wire, or does the brass sit fine with just a hard push into the white metal?

Do you chemically blacken or just paint your tracks?

Do you use an assembly jig for putting them together, or do it by hand?

Hi Drummer
I don't use the brass wire either. I use sequin pins from a dress shop or super fine dress pins I get from Wal-Mart most of the time.
If I use the steel wire supplied by Friul i'll cut it into about eight inch long sections and roll it between the bench top and a old ignition points file which straightens it out and gives it a rough surface.
I never need to use glue because I chase out the link holes with a drill bit that just a shade smaller than the the pin or wire size for a good snug fit.

I blacken them first and apply oil washes to weather them. No jigs just sit and watch TV while I assemble them by hand on a lap tray.

That's about it and I do love my Friulmodel tracks

Pins Rock and no real need for glue if its a snug fit. :)

Ak do some Blackening fluid but i think its a bit on the weak side and takes too long for me, Tony mentioned Gun bluing to me before but where i live that's not available to me.

your welcome ND, you will love them. there a bit of a paint to prepare but look way better

Hummm… our Big Daddy always gives us sweeeeeet candies after work… yum-yum… ;D
