First pictures are of an M1A1 SA in a motor pool environment, nice, clean, and tarped up. I'm sure most of you know already, but I will explain the bumper numbers for those not familiar. Facing the tank from the front, on the left side you will find the unit/division and on the right side you will find company/platoon/tank. On this particular tank it reads 3-69(for 3-69 armor regiment)with a triangle signifying the type of unit(armor) then says 3(for 3rd infantry division)with an "I" denoting an infantry unit. On the right side we have the bumper number D34. The D stands for the company(D co.) the 3 for 3rd platoon, and the 4 for 4th tank in the platoon. Each individual tank has a role within the platoon. A section(1-platoon leader, 2-wingman for platoon leader)B section(3-wingman for platoon sgt, 4-platoon sgt) so by just the bumper numbers we can see that this M1 is the platoon sergeants tank in 3rd platoon, D Company, 3-69AR, 3rd Infantry Division. Also a note for towbars, generally the wingman tanks will have towbars/heatshields(D32,D33) while the platoon leader and platoon sgt tanks do not(D31,D34). Hopefully I've been more help than confusion, but if you have any questions, please post below.
