Hey guys,
Here is my latest build. It is the Mclaren MP4-13 Pre Season Press Car. The paint is from Scalefinishes.com Mclaren Orange. The color was made for the old Can-Am cars and is not the exact color, but pretty close. The color itself is a little darker than the photo shows.
The decals are from indycals.com. Although I have used their decals multiple times in the past and have had not problems, this set seemed a little thin and gave me a lot of problems. The "west" logo on the right side started to fall apart after I thought it was already dry. I lost the Mercedes logos on the cowl and ended up using the kit decals for that.
I also used the studio27 carbon fiber decal set. The odd thing about the studio27 decals was that they put so much emphasis on small areas and parts, but did not include the front and rear wing or suspension pieces, even though a majority of their other kits do.
Harness is from Tuner Model Factory, but I used ribbon for the belt material. I used a lot of different colors of Alclad for the engine and used BMF foil for the tub and the Tamiya Photoetch Tire stencil for the tires. I also used some small rivets that you might not see in the pictures.
This is only my 5th F1 car I ever built, but probably some of the best work I have done. I am happy with the result regardless of the mistakes I have made. Hope you all enjoy!
