Stumbled on this forum recently, seems to be really actve and I totally enjoy all the tips and pictures.

I used to model as a kid in the 70s and 80s, orange tube glue, little square enamel paints and brushes. Results were rough, but I enjoyed the time I was building. Kits were random, but mostly cars and airplanes.

Then I took a long break. After that long break, I got back into it on and of as the years progressed. At some point I upped my game and began using rattle cans. So now the finished product at least looked closer to the real thing ; )
Mostly built cars at this time, easier to move when I had to move (military lifestyle).

Took another breather - raised some children and all that- then about 20 years ago jumped back in and sort of took it seriously by purchashing an airbrush.

At this time I began working on pricier kits like Tamiya and large scale kits. And I also started using Tamiya acrylics. This was a good time and I actually have a few builds left from those days. This was my large scale (1/25+) tank and military period!

Took another sabbatical, then jumped in again about 5 years ago, got some better equipment, built a spray booth and started using Tamiya lacquer.
I so love the lacquer paints, easy to use, forgiving (and I need lots of forgiveness), dry quickly and the paint doesn't come off with the tape! Just over all better results.

This current period of building began with the 1/25 scale F1 series from Tamiya. It continues to this day with the large scale race cars from Meng, Tamiya and Italari.

My current build is the 1/25 Maclaren by Meng and I just finished up their large scale GT40 ($$ kit, but awesome to build)

Looking forward to my next build series of Tamiyas 1/6 scale motorcycles. I will begin my first one early in '25 - still need to finish the Maclaren first, but it's in the final stages.

I might begin doing build photos once I start the my first bike. Never thought about it before joining here.

Happy hobbying everyone!
