Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

I didn't say it before but all those black and "yella" parts look excellent painted up.

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

FINALLY.... after years of milling about the shipyards.....
I am getting to see some paint....and it looks terrific.
I think you will be sad once she is finished, and you have this HUGE VOID in your life, which WAS her creation.
;) ;) ;D

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Morning Folks,
Very nice of you all to comment, i really appreciate it.

Not much doing just a quick coat of primer for the Emergency line socket.

Picture%2520084.jpg

Primer for some other small detail pieces.

Picture%2520072.jpg

Then it was on to fixing the skins on to the top surface of the wings, very time consuming to get a good fit for all the sepatate pieces.

Picture%2520079.jpg

Picture%2520080.jpg

Picture%2520082.jpg

Then the side of the body.

Picture%2520106.jpg

Then i moved on to the front winglets

Picture%2520109.jpg

Picture%2520113.jpg

This is the complete story so far.

Picture%2520125.jpg

Picture%2520119.jpg

I think i will be skinning the underside next, and adding a few more details.
Thanks for looking.

Stay tuned

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

This is super cool, but I have one question... What is an "emergency socket"? Is that the same thing as an emergency escape or emergency hatch?

Thanks

Thanks for your interest Mr Hook1169

The Emergency socket is a for a cable that will run from the trailier to the ship incase the hitch mechanism fails, it will also act as an umblical cord for all the control and sensor mechanisms on the trailer. I plan to make this cable out of Bass guitar strings and wire.

This week i've only been skinning, like i said before very time consuming because I first have to establish how I want the panelling to look, this is constantly changing and evolving as i go from section to section until the pieces look right together. You have to fit each piece, one at a time.

First I make a cardboard template to get the basic shape then cut it out of 0.020"(1/2mm) sheet then I sand and chamfer the edges until it fits. I then glue the panel in position and hold it fimly in place with masking tape.

Tried to keep it simple stupid, on the design. I may scribe some additional details later, I will have to see how it looks when everything is in place.

I made a small cowling to go around the central support, also made a tube so i can block this hole if required.
Used my trusty Vodka bottle pouring spouts

Then moved on to the back section.

That's it for now, hopefully i will post another update tommorrow

Take care
