I'm not sure it's really working yet. If I were you, I would add some bits of chunkier mud to the tank as well, and go over the mud effect witha different colour as well to break up the monotony.

Also, keep in mind that mud and dirt would fall from the top run of the tracks as well, so not only the lower sides of the tank got dirty, the upper sides as well. Mud would also get thrown onto the roof by the tracks.
 
I certainly don't need anyone telling me what they would do or how to do it. Just accept that it's different and move on.

I seem to have stepped on toes, I guess. Why so defensive? You yourself said you weren't sure about the weathering, so I offered some tips on how to improve it with little effort. The good thing about weathering is that it really only gets better if you layer on some more.
