Who makes the best X-wing fighter kit today? I built one in the late 70s (could have been 1980) but I do not remember the manufacturer, or to be honest if it were an X-Wing or the Battlestar Galactica fighter that (slightly) resembled it.

Always thinking not of the next kit, but the one after that, you know.

My opinion would be a Fine Mold if you can find one at a reasonable price, They have been out of print for awhile now. What is still in print I believe the Bandai would be. They don't look bad as a snap kit, but if you treat them like a glue kit and finish them off yourself they are better. I think they are a better base to work off of if you want a 1/144 scale kit, which is most of them. Revell isn't too bad, MPC seems to be less detailed as most of the moldings are reused from the original runs. Scale would be the determining factor in most cases, if you don't care about that I would try a Bandai kit as the detailing on those are typically nice and normally good fit.
