I am working on a model of a Shelby gt500 from AMC turning it in to elinor made a couple modifications to the hood scoop made out of jb putty covered in air dry clay covered in mod pudge the rear duck tail spoiler same made the side exhaust out of wood don't know what to put over that as a coating to seal the wood so I will be able to paint it with createx model paint going to prime with Vallejo primer put first layer of paint on it

You put wood, as in tree/plant material, on a styrene kit?
I think you need someone better skilled than I, but I'll take a swing here...
Seal the wood bits with a primer like Floquil for trains, or any strong/durable filling primer. That way they'll have a sealed surface which can be mated to the plastic parts with more common methods, I'm thinking CA.
That said, I'd love to see your GT500, my other hobby is a 1:1 functional model. Not a real Shelby, not even close (a mere "C-code" which they made many many thousand), they made no convertibles in 1967, those came out in '68.

Oil base primer .
Spray the whole thing with something like the Rustoleum 2X primer to unify everything and seal the grain of the wood .
Be prepared to see porosity / grain since you didn't mention any putty work in there , but that is one thing primer is for .
