Ratrod Marathon Build

Scott that rust job is great. I'm going to need to rust something soon. I've never rusted anything before but have watched a bunch of videos on it. All the results I've seen look fantastic. And man, your knocking this out of the park.

Thanks guys. I'm really having fun learning this technique. I'm finding a few things:

A. Waiting up to 3 hours between spraying chipping fluid (CF), and actually chipping it is ok.

I did just that today. Srayed the stuff, covered in paint, and then my wife had her finger slammed the jamb of an exterior door here (wind caught door, door caught finger). 3 hours later, 8 stitches and her in alot of pain I chipped the first layer of white (below).

First shot is showing the opacity of my second white layer, then some sides.

Scott first off I hope your wife's ok man that sounds horrible! And second that chipping looks crazy!!! Awesome.

Looks good Scott. And I also feel bad for your wife. Eight stitches, that had to hurt.

Very nice work, Scott.
Hope the wife's not in too much pain. I know how much it can hurt

8 stitches ouch! Man the hair stands up on my neck when I hear fingers and car doors. Kind of like ripping a toenail off from a trampoline (wouldn't mention it if I didn't do it) Gods speed to her and her new threads.

Awesome job Scott!!!! Hope your wife's ok, stitches suck hardcore. Hope they gave her some good pain pills to cover the pain I'm sure shes having. Keep up the good work and keep us posted of your wife;s condition.

Thanks for the concern guys. She's doing ok. Her finger is sore for sure...and today back at work slugging mail (post office) we'll see how that goes...

I've learned alot over the past days. First, when it comes to rust - since I added the color my 6 layers of rust are pretty much in vain. I'll know that for next time. Secondly...Life color chips OK, but Tamiya chips way better. Third...slow down. I tend to rush, trying to make the most of each pocket of time I get to work on this, however slow and steady wins the race. ;D

So, in keeping with Luke's Red 5 (white body, blue canopy) here's my latest results.

That is some bad a$$ chipping Scott!! That would look good by itself on a slab with some Armor Farm for a garnish!!! ;D Keep it coming...this is great!!!

Incredible work here, Scott!
Love the chipping, and the color-scheme You've chosen overall. The cockp...sorry, the cabin looks outstanding as well, I'm especially digging the targeting computer, lol :)
P.S: Drop your wife a hello word from me with the sincere wishes for her fastest recovery possible.

Looking awesome Scott, the paintwork looks badly beaten!

Cant wait to see this all together

Great vids Scott! Fun to watch you work away on something!! Keep em coming!!
