Recent build...

Since I am not ready to share a build in progress...(since I make so many mistakes), here is a recent build from January and early February.

I've used enamels most of my life, rattle cans and brushes, but in the last few years I move to acrylics and and and an air brush. Tough going for this old guy.
But I picked up a couple cheap, early Tamiya kits to practice on with the acrylics and an air brush, before working on an important project.
This also my first time using pigments of any kind.

But the old Tamiya M48A3 worked out OK. Felling better about the air brush.

That is exactly why, when I post about a model I'm building, I also show and/or explain what went wrong. Too many people (modellers and others) only post about how things go right, or even actively hide their mistakes by deliberately not showing them, which can give a very skewed impression that leaves other people thinking their own efforts are not good enough.

Yes, a valid point.
Unfortunately, I built this in January, and just joined the forum in mid-February.:)

Old is correct.
At 66, I prefer to think we are well aged ;)
I also recently joined, and for a month or so I had a number of catch-up posts from the last eight years when I got back into the hobby. Luckily, I had some in-progress shots which I had taken to show my brother half way across the country.

I haven't yet crossed over to the dark side (air brush), but that is a mighty fine paint job.
I'm assuming you got those fine transitions and colour variations with the pigments?

Ha....I'll be 69 in April. Can't wait for 70 ;)
Good idea on the past builds. I generally take photos during construction.

Most of the pigments went on the tracks and wheels. I used oil washes on the upper stuff.
I've learned a lot from YouTube about painting and weathering, but the airbrush has taken me a couple years to figure out.
There are a lot variables, but I find the viscosity of the paint has to be correct.

Still haven't tried a camo paint job yet, but I have some in the stash to try.

This what got me back in...A resale shop visit.

Excellent haul, Bob, should get you back up to speed, those are some great kits.

Have no worries, Bob, we all go through the bump and grind, the learning curve. Post em when ya got em, I say. And who cares what they look like? If we don't ask, we won't learn, so ask if you need an assist, we'll do the best to help if we can.

Some of us have been "shiffin paint and gluin our fingers together" for a very long time, some off and on, some just getting started. Regardless, I still have to "relearn" my techniques all the time, so this getting "younger thing" is real, as in, "if ya don't use it, ya lose it!"

Ruck On, Bby!

I picked those up in December of '21. Started with the Hobby Boss kit, found it pretty involved, and put it away about half done. Started one of the ME262s, because I love them, but still not done with it, back in the box.

I did finish the the JS2 and the M41, (threads coming), but decided I really don't like 1/48. I started with 1/35, and still prefer it.
