Red 3 (all wings report in continues)

Red 3 is in the works!

Ever notice that stumpy engine in the bandai box? That is red 3's upper starboard engine. Also, red 3's upper engines are in the opposite configuration compared to red 5. Meaning you should have the engine with the rib running front to back on the starboard side, not the port side as it is on Luke's ride. Since the landing gear side of each wing has the detail in the correct location for Biggs I simply flipped the wings upside down, easy.



Still wash on most of the parts here, please excuse the mess.

Small update... wash removed and preparing for the squadron markings. I noticed in looking at my reference for the red markings that Red 3's markings are set one panel farther inboard than all the other red birds. Next time you see it the red wing markings will be on.

Small update: Got the wing markings on, finished the washes, started on the chipping. Need to finish the chips, rust marks, blaster hits, and the engine burns.

Red 3 is finished! I'm happy with the final product and just two x-wings away from my goal.

Dude! That looks awesome! All your "wings" look good so far! Can't wait to see them all in order. I was just deciding which wing to build when I get my next Bandai kit, and I think I'm going to build one not seen onscreen, Red VII or VIII, or something. I will be using a TON of pointers from your build threads!

Great idea, from what I know there is no ILM reference on those x-wings. Maybe some very rough basic pyro models if anything. You could really go in any direction with those.
