Hey all I'm trying to find the best kits for an absolute beginner to have for the first few kits to build, to that end I'm looking for a few top 5 kits list from other more experienced scale modelers to use for best choices of kits that are easy to build and that can catch my eye. I made an f-16 fighting falcon when I was 16 and that was cool but I'm more interested in ww2 planes, thanks and be well.

That's a loaded question. It depends on a lot of factors. How much money you want to spend? Cuz I can show you $300 airplane kits or I can show you a $20 kit you can snap together. Do you like models with lots of pieces? Do you like lots of pe? If you like PE get yourself a nice big battleship. How much money you got to spend on paint? Do you have a cheapy airbrush or a nice, Dependable one over 100 bucks? Do you like Jets or do you like propeller? The more propellers or engines more expensive the kit. Do you want to go for Exquisite detail or do you just want to slap a body together so you can start painting? Do you want to put together a model that practically builds itself or do you want to use lots of glue and putty and sanding and sanding and sanding and then scribing and then redoing it cuz you messed it up? Lots of factors. But the one factor you really need? Enjoy whatever you're doing. Have fun.

I'd say just stick to Tamiya or Bandai , whatever subject or price range .
They both are well engineered and have decent instructions .

just avoid the Tamiya A-10 .
I know you said WW2 aircraft , but you are now warned . ;)

Some of the planes I like from ww2 are the supermarine spitfire mk1a the vought f4u1a corsair p51d mustang and b-17 bomber, but I'm interested in having more experienced modelers give me some of the best kits for a complete novice, also I do have a few modern planes that I'd be interested in f14 tomcat f16 falcon a10 warthog ah64 apache heli

Hey is there an a10 kit you could reccomend?

That flew in WW2 ?

;) ,
the Tamiya is the only A-10 I have built .
That question has come up around here before , but I don't remember the consensus .
Italeri released a new one recently I think .

Others here will no doubt have an opinion on it .
We will see .

What do you mean? The A-10 is a Second World War aircraft — there's combat footage to prove it:

Not only that, it was even a naval aircraft at the time:

What? How'd I miss that? All the shows and docs I've watched on WWII and not once did they mention the A-10.
America's best kept secret of WWII.

Haha , I remember you liking it .
It was rather flimsy for a Tamiya kit IMO .
It was the first kit I built coming back to the hobby after 40+ years so I had nothing to compare it to. It still stands as one of my favorite kits even after building 13 other aircraft kits.

I would recommend getting an inexpensive kit to start. Revell makes some aircraft in various scales that are pretty inexpensive and build into a decent model. A lot of the kits with newer molds are going to be pricey and it will hurt more if you mess it up.

If you are older with eyesight issues, in aircraft I would say start with 1/32nd scale.

If age or eyesight isn't an issue go with 1/48 or 1/72 scale... you won't have to buy as much paint! Unless you are building a large bomber.

As someone mentioned above, Tamiya ease of assembly can't be beat. But the newer -mold kits are not cheap. I think some older Tamiya kits in 1/48 can be had for about $30 US.
