Revell 1/48 Maverick's Tomcat pretty rough

So, that is Goose, apparently his injuries were far worse than we thought.....but on a serious note, I tried to build their F-14A to be displayed with the pilots in or out, no matter how hard I tried and broken EJ seat handles the only way Goose would fit is if I Leutenant Dan'ed him. Maverick fits fine without the RIO radar and joystick.

oops, my bad. Ya fitting figures in seats is a challenge, luckily many of mine turn out to be double and triple jointed!

I'm trying to convince myself it's the kit.....several times I thought the F-14 might flat spin itself to the sea. When we review a kit and say there is little flash on the parts, what exactly is this considered? In Revell speak. I'm gonna have to dig that pitot tube outta that.

There was really bad flash like that in the 1/72 Razor Crest kit, and that is a recent tool within the past few years

They are still behind the curve compared to many companies quality these days

I hear one of their worst kits is the 1/32 Hornet. Supposedly there are parts that require filing, sanding and gap filling at almost every step of the way. E

All in all though, you did a great job with this sub-par kit!

I'm no aircraft modeller, but it looks great to me. The pilots are excellent.
I always work on the premise that these are scale models, and so they should be observed at a scale distance.
If you take a close up high res pic of anything it won't look great. But stand back a few centimetres (or inches depending on your preference) it looks real.
As an example, I like trains. Love the engineering and style. But get up REALLY close and the paintwork is shite!
Stand back and admire, it looks great.
We're all our own harshest critics. And we all build (or at least should) for our own enjoyment.
Well done that man.
