Lots of missing bits and painting. Anything gray that is not tiny is just sitting there for now. But I am on the downhill side of things.

EDIT TO ADD:
Yes the PE was large in volume and highly delicate in nature. I had some major success and many a near disaster that still looks like...ummm...bad stuff. But the hardest parts in my experience were plastic-on-plastic, the gunner-seats on the many 5-inchers. Those were harder (IMO) than the shields of the single 20mm, by a small margin but yeah.
Great job on yours, of course. Your work looks so very good.

I painted mine as she was in the Pacific Theater, and the way she looks now during her restoration.
She should be ready by the end of this year or next year.

I'm wishing I had chosen that, I'm trying to do the paintjob she had during D-Day, but I think that means the deck-config is off by a little, Trumpeter made the 1945 version not the '44.

Oh well, I lean towards the historical side of the never-ending topic about "accuracy", but I am not a rivet counter either

Accuracy is good, but having fun is more gooder. lol

I learned that she now has a home. I think it's at peir 15.
My wife and I like Galveston and it's only 45 min to an hour away.

In my younger days I went just about every weekend. I would take the top off the Jeep and cruise the seawall or take the ferry ride to Crystal Beach and cruise on the beach. Fun way to meet the babes as they strut down the beach in their bikinis. Ooo-lala

When I was young I went several times per summer. For those not aware, that is a 7 or 8 month long season along the coast of the "Gulf Of America". Calm down, I did not make up the term.

You and I probably played together at some point, there were always other young boys manning the guns, those quad 20s required a man (or 10-year old boy dreaming) on both sides to crank the handles and defend against Kamikazes!

I left Houston in 1982 as a residence, will never leave Texas, but I still go back as recently as last weekend.
