So I made a diorama this weekend

This was my first diorama so be gentle . . .
So I made a base for this Russian tank I made. I give myself a C. Some things like the depth of the "snow" were not what I wanted. I wanted deeper for the tank to sit in but that was going to turn into a bloody mess. . . Also I might use a different compound for the snow next time. Molding paste is not easy to smooth out (at least for me). . comments and suggestions are appreciated!!!!

I tend to use white tile grout, dust it on with an icing shaker or something similar. Wet the powder with a mist sprayer using water, this will set the grout.
Just keep adding layers until your happy with the depth.
On the last dusting and spraying just add another dusting on top before it set's to give the impression of fresh snow. Pantherman

Hi. Looks good to me. Nice weathering on the tank, and the groundwork looks fine. Know what you mean about things not quite turning out as wanted. I often find it's all a compromise, sometimes a happy accident will appear. One streak on the weathering, or a last minute add on of whatever. The dio is very good. Post more. We all love to look at other's works.

Wow, if that is your first ever it is amazing. But I am a sucker for the KV-1

The last diorama I made was about 30 years ago, so YMMV, but I used plaster-of-paris in the exact same way described by the pink panther dude here. When it is wet/soft you can mash the tank into it then fill the areas around the tracks. If you want mud, paint it, if you want snow, leave it be
