started my first model in a while

I need help from the forum .

can I safely use the micro setting solutions on this surface for the decals?

or should I simply wet and stick them and not get too in depth about it?

SHould be able to use setting solutions just fine.
But I'd make sure you have a gloss or semi-gloss finish to lay them down on first

got all the decals done , everything went great except for the most important decal ...the NASA Logos in the tail.. they were completely out of register ,, I could not tell until they were on the black background..it's almost like part of the printing on just those 2 decals is backwards..!! They are not even legible

I know the decal is not applied backwards because i slid them directly onto the tail.

.I did not seal the model , I'm not really sure what to do..it ruins the entire model..if it were a couple of the more tiny decals I could have pressed on.

I'm open for suggestions.I put alot of work into this tiny model.

heres the model overall,,without the flatcoat..

the nasa logo looks a little better at an angle in the photo..the one on the other side is much worse.

Do you have a plan for the decal? Leave it or replace it? I was thinking maybe you could fix up the out of register spots with a very fine brush and a little paint...

Not sure how to strip the decal without disturbing the paint beneath. Maybe someone else might know...

I could take it off with microset,, but I might just try your idea of touching it up.
I'ts not a very detailed model and very tiny so , I wont put too much more into it.

Looks like it was a problem with the decal itself, actually.
Ink layers way out of registry.

All in all, though, that turned out really well.

I do a whole lesson on the X-15 in my grade 6 science class. I'd like to share your pics with students. Maybe it will inspire them to build one!
