Tamiya 1/48 Japanese Navy Komatsu G40 Bulldozer

Tried Spud's suggestion, with a few alterations, and this is what I got:

Lightly sanded the scratches, used XF-64 Red Brown (didn't have XF-10 but obviously need it!) and some lightened versions of it, then Model Master Clear Top Coat to seal, then did the salt trick on the top and sides. Sprayed over this with my top coat of XF-51 and then waited an hour before scrubbing away with a toothbrush.

Put it together this evening, sans seat piece. Also fine tuning my photography.

Nice work mate, what a cool little kit.

You obviously have a good camera set up too.. looking good :)

It's actually just a white piece of paper, a single CFL light and a Sony NEX 5. And then some tweaking in Adobe Lightroom.

A good light source, correct white balance and proper focus can do wonders. Also, having the model just by itself helps with the false sense of scale since you have nothing to compare it to.

that is Pretty good for a first attempt at it Ian Well done.

Almost there I think. More shading, and I added some custom score marks on the hoses and then applied a wash.

@Spud â€" You mentioned pigments in an earlier post. Suggestions for a starter set? AK or MIG?

I honestly haven't built a kit in over 20 years, but thanks to forums like this and dedicated modelers willing to share information, it makes getting back into the swing of it far less challenging.

Purchased some items from AK Interactive and experimented with those this evening.
