I did a cross-country road trip this year from NY to WA and back. Stopped at a few museums along the way, the best being the USAF in Dayton Ohio.
WOW! For anyone who's never been...GO there! It is an incredible experience. I spent 3 days touring the 4 buildings, each of which is 200,000sqft in area.
An amazing collection of aircraft.

I knew it was big but I didn't realize it was that big. Dang! Any pictures to share with us?

Well...I did shoot a lot of pix, but I couldn't begin to decide which ones to post because of the large number of really cool planes on display!
And to only post a few, would be a tease. :)
Their website lists everything that is on display, it will give you an idea of what is there. And even the biggest bombers with full wings are inside.
It's so incredible. Add it to your bucket list and make it so! Enjoy

I went for the first time ever earlier this year. I spent the majority of my time in the last hanger with all the old experimentals and loved every minute of it. I had seen so many things there on video shot in the 50's and 60's, but to see them in person was really special. i plan on going back early next year again. Such a great place

It truly is a fantastic Museum, and free to enter too!
This is a bigger deal for someone used to much smaller Museums that always cost an arm and a leg to visit. [Canada. sheesh]

My first visit to the USAF Museum (I've been 3 times ...so far) was back in 1969.
I remember the Valkyrie was, at that time, parked outside on display.
I think the outside display was as big as the rest of the Museum, since there were only 2 buildings at that time.

I haven't been back since the Memphis Belle was restored, something I'd really like to see.
I love that you can literally touch most aircraft...the F117 Stealth fighter's matte finish shows the results of this. haha

I've been to the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, and three times to the Air & Space Museums (both Udvar Hazy and DC).
These are the must see Museums if you are an air buff.
Seeing a space flown Space Shuttle up close and personal is truly a moving moment.
Crawling around underneath and standing up inside the landing gear bays is especially exciting!
(a friend who worked as a Restoration Specialist allowed access beyond any barriers)

Yes, there are dozens of other great Aircraft Museums to visit in the US, but these three are the biggest and best.

I must find a new place to share all my Museum albums.
I used to have all my Museum's photos online at Flikr, but their recent account changes (for free accounts)
forced me to remove a lot of my photos to stay under the photo limit.
