Y-Wing WIP Studio Scale

Looks so good. Looking forward to seeing it after a nice dirty wash!

Has anyone ever seen one of these clean? I'm surprised they didn't show up in any of the prequel movies. All shiny and spiffy.

I don't recall any Y-Wings in the prequels but I have seen them watching the Clone Wars on Cartoon Network with my son. I didn't think they looked that bad.

Well, Mr. PunkPigPen,
you are just tearing through this model like crazy. You will be done with it before I know what has hit me. :)
As for the Clone Wars Y-Wing. It's kinda kewl. More reminiscent of a Syd Mead design, but not the Klunky old school design that we all grew up with. The over detailed battle wagon! :D

Yeh it ain't sooo bad BUT like a clasic car. If you put a picture of a Chevy Impala from say 1961 next to the one from today. It says it all. The vintage is a work of art.

Very well said. I totally agree.

Thanks Scott! Today i got alot done. the filthy wash has been applied and cleaned off. It took a few hours to wipe it right since the model is soo huge and has a million nooks and crannys. i sealed it then with Dullcote laquer. Not pictured is some of the plumbing i started to paint copper. I'll post tomorrow. for that is use Testors Enamel Copper. i think it best to use enamels when doing some metallics as the acrylic versions i have look unrealistic and lackuster.

Been following this thread silently but after those latest pics I've got say this is turning out a be a beautiful piece of model workmanship! Hope you have a display case big enough. I'd hate to see the finished piece sit out and get dusty . :)

thanks guys, its been a journey with this one. starting with posting on every forum looking for one, many weeks later someone has one and PMs me. the clean-up of a hundreds of parts took a week. then the build with no instructions. so hours of research to find the location of parts. Over 3 weeks later here we are in the build and it's in its final 2 days i assume. whew.
One part broke yesterday. the R2 unit's fiber optic strand snapped off after weeks of handling. not the end of the world but i'll see if there's anything i can do.

i have one solution im thinkin how to fix it it may work i hope. it was a pain routing the droid and getting the optic strand to run straight up then take a sharp left to the front head.
