Don't worry, I'm a nice Norwegian. I'm a very casual builder, this looks like a very nice place though so I think I will enjoy spending time here. And your members have already been very helpful. I'm a 70s/80s kid, and grew up with plastic modelling as my favourite past time. It's been a bit on and off since, I still pick up a kit now and then though. I tend to stick to smaller projects, so a lot of 1/72 aircraft models, which were my favourite models when I was a kid as well. I build the occasional 1/35 scale military vehicle as well, and I have this thing for 60s and 70s American trucks. I also have collected almost all the 1/76 Matchbox military vehicle kits, those with the mini diorama included, and even built some. Partly for nostaligic reasons, I loved them when I was a kid, they are pretty cool though. They remind me of the covers of these WWII comics, similar to Commando in the UK, I used to read. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all

Thanks! Dont' expect too much from my builds though, I have settled on a pretty medium level to keep it enjoyable for me

No worries, if there is any expectation, it is that you feel comfortable sharing your work, find encouragement, and continue enjoying this hobby... sounds like the expectations are all on us! ;)

Thanks! I've seen some group builds going on here, not the stuff I usually do though. Do you have any system to what and when?

...did someone say or post something...

"Swedish"?

Apologies in advance, however hollow they may be.

Hi, I've been active since Christmas, and there have been a few GBs.
From what I gather, this forum is pretty informal about the whole thing, and the main emphasis is participation, camaraderie and maybe learning something new, not to mention getting to ask questions as you go!
So folks might float an idea for a theme, then see how many others would be interested, then set a start date and a few parameters. And off you go!

I've noticed it's more informal than most forums, which is part of why I find this forum more interesting to me. I guess as I get adjusted to the forum I'll figure out how to join group builds myself

It's easy to join a group build. When some one suggests it all you have to do is say "I'm in". and then work at your own pace and post pictures (lots of pictures) of the build.

If you what to suggest a group build just start a thread with the idea and wait. I haven't seen a GB idea rejected yet.

Welcome to the madness.
What is the "stuff" you usually do? Meaning genre.
I started with WWII aircraft and now I build whatever grabs my attention. Like WJ said, think of a build you want to do and start a group build thread. I am sure a few here will join.

I have built almost anything coming on plastic sprues. I don't really build ships anymore though, small scale ships generally look too much like toys to me, at least when I make them, my hands are not as steady as they once were. And large scale ships are just too large for me. I have been tempted, some very interesting large scale ship models have been released the last decade or so, as projects they are just too demanding when it comes to time and focus. I had only seen two group builds when I wrote the comment you quoted though
