1/16 Stug III Ausf.G

I got the first layer of weathering done on the lower hull. I think I'll still play around with it some more, the vertical streaks I first added with oil paint got obscured with the pigment layer.17186665171276072601487947609588.jpg17186665786176907447331930997959.jpg
I'm in no rush to start the mind numbing task of track assembly anyway.

I got to give a thumbs up to Das Werk for the tracks on this kit. Yes, the assembly was tedious and time consuming, but it wasn't a pain in the a$$ like I was expecting. I just put on some Black Sabbath. (original Sabbath with Ozzy, of course, because Sabbath sucks without Ozzy and Ozzy sucks without Sabbath. ) grabbed a beer and had at it.
I had them assembled in a few hours. I took another two days to get them painted, weathered and mounted. 17191069449368749819301500208376.jpg17191070257732056306314912222077.jpg1719107083175686250989160980619.jpg
Final weathering will be completed when the upper hull is installed.

Definitely worth the effort, they look great. Pantherman

Thanks everyone......almost done with the assembly. The painting and weathering have become my favorite parts of a build these days.17194321432398921927143396333556.jpg
This book has been a great resource. There are more volumes but are hard to find.

I got the gun assembled and mounted. So this pretty much completes the interior with the exception of the gunners site. I need to figure out how much to shim it up to protrude through the roof, somehow I went sideways as how this is supposed to be mounted. No matter, I also had to improvise, adapt, and overcome to mount the AFV pig's head mantlet instead of using the one supplied with the kit. I'll say again, I'm very impressed with Das Werk for supplying an aluminum barrel with the kit. I had a hard time locating a metal barrel for my 1/16 King Tiger. 17197054433758134376958992923472.jpg1719705480612807958302777788435.jpg17197055274632703109900200648330.jpg

Thanks guys.....got more tools, accessories to paint and put on. Then I'll have to be careful about over doing the paint chipping and weathering, I have fun doing it so it will be hard to stop.

I can relate to that. I just finished a model and I had to keep slapping my hand. I kept reaching for my weathering supplies.

The amount of detail at that scale is amazing, how large is the finished vehicle?
