Such a blowhard aren’t you… I’m one not afraid to speak my mind. I could care less about the chemistry aspect of paints and thinner. You seems to be the type that always talks about it constantly. Honestly, nobody cares about the chemistry aspect of them. It’s pretty much too technical for...

    Old although new

Welcome. I’ve been acquiring a bunch of car kits from my youth and teen years as of late. I’m still on the hunt for the 1/48 scale B-52 Stratofortress for a good price LOL!

All are posts from this site. You haven’t posted anything to support your argument from outside sources. I do agree some hobbyists use oil based artist paints and have had success with them. But are they worth it for mixing your colors to match FS/RLM/RAL colors? No. Why go through wasting paint...

Yes they are. Buy acrylics for hobby use. Those are garbage for model building and not for model kit uses. Go here and find your color choices: https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Paint_and_Construction/browse.php?s=3&t=1&u=1

SMA What's New In Your Stash?!?

Any Tempest Mk.V kit is on my wish list. I recently finished the Haker Typhoon Mk.1b “Teardrop Canopy” version. I still have the “Car Door” type in my stash. The Tempest and Typhoon look similar. There is a different shape Tempest in later years.

    1/72 Hasegawa P-3C Orion VP-8

I fell in love with the P-3 Orion after my uncle who worked at Pax River NAS in Maryland as a civilian took me out on the base. It was there, I saw a squadron of P-3s. While visiting DC Air & Space Museum, I bought my first Orion model kit (Hasegawa). I found another at Syrcon last year and...

The Island of Misfit Toys.... er... Planes

Does the Flapjack count? ROFLMAO! Interesting GB though and am intrigued. I’ll have to see what I find at Syrcon 36 next month.

    U.S.S Enterprise Manual

Never been to Seattle; let alone to the west coast but heard they have downhill. A shame really. I highly doubt I’ll ever head west anytime in the future.

If it’s dry to the touch, it’s dry. LOL!

    What arrived today

Pfffttt. 80 miles is a little over an hour. Rochester is 2 1/2 hrs from me via NYS Thruway. Unless it’s the traffic that’s takes you longer to get there. Even if it ends up a 2 1/2 hr drive each way - it’s worth a trip.;)

What I Have Learned So Far

Not that they don’t care, they just don’t pick upon it. Especially if their molds aren’t updated.

But you’re not telling us whether you’re using hobby acrylics or artist acrylics.

    U.S.S Enterprise Manual

I always stay away from Amazon for various reasons. They charge too much, Amazon treat their employees like crap, etc… They will never see a since cent from me. Heck, I won't even get Amazon Prime if they paid me to use it. If it has an Amazon link, I won’t look. Shop around, you might find it...

    Creating 1/700 scale caution tape

I’d probably make really thin strips using yellow masking tape. 1/700 scale would be extremely tiny to pull off - probably the size of a single strand of hair.

    What arrived today

No. Look up IPMS online. You can be able to search by state / city. Syrcon is located in Syracuse - an hours drive from me. If you’re nearby a major city like Houston or wherever, they tend to have the major IPMS Nationals show. I’ve never been to a major IPMS Nationals show before but love to...

What I Have Learned So Far

I usually worry about total accuracies, what to watch out for, or these so-call experts; aka: rivet counters say. I look at it this way… I build for my enjoyment. I’m not entering any IPMS contests - which is widely political and fickle depending on the judges. As Panther mentioned, we all made...

Adhesion was the main problem. Maybe proper preparation would have helped. But the real question we should be asking is what brand of acrylic paint are you having issues with. I suspect you’re using artist acrylics. Stay away from them. Those types of paints are for painting on canvas, not...
